Competitions

Competitions Open to NWCCC Member Clubs

Northwest Council of Camera Clubs (NWCCC) has a diverse selection of competitions designed to satisfy all our needs and desires. We have summarized the competitions below; detailed rules and entry forms are found here on the NWCCC website.

First of all, we have PRINT (large or small, color or B&W) competitions, and PROJECTED IMAGE (digital only, color or creative, single or show) competitions. Most competitions may be entered by individuals; some by member clubs only. A few competitions are held over a period of months and result in awards at the annual fall conference; most are held just for the conference.

Other competitions traditionally open to NWCCC members are listed at the end.

Note: All individual entrants must be members of an NWCCC member club.

NWCCC Competitions -- PRINTS

Traveling Print Salon (club competition)
A set of 10 to 25 prints from each participating member club travels from club to club (within their circuit) during the spring months, where they are judged and sent on to the next club. The categories are Color and B&W. The juried finalists are based on the total number of votes by that circuit’s participating clubs. After the first juried review, the final winners are later selected by an independent judge(s). All prints accepted during the juried round are displayed and awards announced at the fall conference.

Year-end Open Print Salon (individual competition)
Up to 8 prints (4 Color and 4 B&W) in one size category are submitted by individuals in the early fall. Prints are judged by an independent judge(s) prior to the fall conference. Awards are announced in four separate categories (Large Color, Large B&W, Small Color, and Small B&W) and all prints are displayed at the fall conference.

NWCCC Competitions -- PROJECTED IMAGES
(digital only in 2009 and later)

Year-end Open & Creative Projected Competition (individual competition) – Bob Reavis, Chair
Projected images are submitted by individuals in the early fall and are judged by an independent judge(s) prior to the fall conference. Up to 4 projected images may be submitted in each category (Open and Creative [altered reality]) for a total of 8. Awards are announced at the fall conference.

Rix Digital AV Showcase (individual or club competition) -- Leona Isaak, Chair
One or more shows of projected images accompanied by music or narrative may be submitted in the early fall by an individual, a group of individuals, or a club. Shows are judged by an independent group of judges prior to the fall conference. Winners, honorable mentions, and special award shows are shown at the conference.


Other Competitions

Best of the Northwest Challenge - Digital Competition (individual competition)
A single digital image may be submitted by any member of a camera club affiliated with the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs or the Northwest Council of Camera Clubs. Images are submitted in April and are judged by an independent judge(s). Awards are announced at the fall conference. No limit per club.
