About Us

Created in 1941, The Northwest Council of Camera Clubs is a federation of camera clubs, not individuals, with membership limited to the Pacific Northwest.

The NWCCC promotes the advancement of photography as a science, recreation, art and to encourage social networking between all persons interested in photography. Primarily, it strives to improve camera club programs, to raise the standard of accomplishment by camera club members, and to keep the clubs in this area informed of the activities of neighboring groups.

HISTORY

The idea of the Council originated with the Olympia Camera Club in 1940 as an outgrowth of its annual regional exhibit, The Olympia Salon of Photography. Advice and assistance was given by Lt. Ernest Featherstone, who had been active in the formation of the Southern California Council of Camera Clubs. Lt. Featherstone provided a copy of the Bylaws of the SCCCC for reference.
