Keynote Speaker: John Pedersen

“As a photographer for most of my life, my desire has always been to convey my love of nature and the visual arts through photography.
I work to bring a unique perspective to every image I create, from wide sweeping landscapes to intimate nature portraits.  I use natural lighting and thoughtful composition to draw the viewer into the scene, to help them visualize what it was like to be in a beautiful location, and to connect them with the wonders of nature.
I see myself as more than just a photographer, I am also a creative educator in that I am inspired to help others further their creative photographic goals and become better artists.”
John’s two presentations at the conference:
15 Tips for Improving Your Photography
We can all improve our photography. What better way to do that than with these 15 tips to remember while on your next photographic adventure? Some may be simple and some may be a bit more complex, but John will talk about why each of these tips is important. He will be showing many of his images to demonstrate the concepts.
Be An Artist
Adopting the mindset of an artist is a way to elevate your photography and gain more satisfaction from the photographic experience and the resulting images. Join John for his take on what it means to be an artist using photography as a medium and listen in as he describes how you can move towards this way of thinking. John will draw from his own to demonstrate different principles that he teaches his clients who want to elevate their photography to new levels and tap into their own creative vision.

John Pedersen is a full-time photographer, workshop leader, author, and creative educator based in the Pacific Northwest.  He has been leading photo workshops across the U.S. and abroad for many years, visiting many iconic and lesser-known locations to bring people to the beauty of the world around us.  While on location, John works to help each individual articulate and craft their own unique vision and capture that in their photographs.

John sees photography as a form of visual communication and works to craft each image to tell a story or evoke an emotion in the viewer.  By carefully constructing his compositions, working from a design and artistic aesthetic, his images transport the viewer to the location to feel the sights and sounds of each beautiful location. As a constant learner, John continually seeks to grow his own artistic abilities and share them with his workshop attendees and social media audience.

John maintains a robust website with his photo workshop and authored books at https://johnpedersenphoto.com.  His regular articles and blog postings help to inform readers and keep them thinking about how to elevate their own craft.  John also regularly contributes to his  YouTube channel with instructional or informative videos.  On top of all that, John is a co-host of a long-running photography podcast called We Talk Photo, with his good friend Jack Graham.
