The HeArt of the Image: Evoking Emotion in Fine Art Photography
Thibault Roland is a fine art photographer who is known for minimalist black and white imagery, with expertise in long exposure and infrared techniques.
His photographic journey bridges science and art, shaped by his background as a physicist and researcher. Using long exposure, infrared, and tilt-shift techniques, he explores what lies beyond the visible, creating images that blend precision with imagination. From planning the shot to crafting the final print, each step reflects a deep commitment to storytelling through fine art photography—inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with the world in new ways.
Thibault’s fine art photographs have been shown, published and awarded internationally and are included in public and private collections such as at the Boston Athenaeum.
He is also an educator and teaches his craft for photography groups across the USA. He is a repeat lecturer for Santa Fe Workshops, stores such as B&H, and leads workshops in the United States and France. His workshops include iconic Pacific Northwest locations such as the Oregon Coast and the Palouse.
Today, Thibault lives in Portland, Oregon with his amazing wife, Clara, and their mischievous puppy, Skye.
