Lisa Merrill: Photography for Joy and Connection

Travel and social impact photographer Lisa Merrill will inspire us to ponder the “whys” of our photography and consider new ways we can grow as visual artists and storytellers, and share our skills and images with friends, family and community.

We’ll start with a deep dive into the power of play, and explore how ICM (intentional camera movement) and other expressionist photography techniques can expand our visual toolboxes.  Allowing ourselves to “lose the literal” with motion and intriguing abstracts can be liberating and joyful.

From there, we turn to connection. Creating soulful portraits and capturing poignant moments with family, friends and pets can nurture bonds and bring us deep satisfaction. On the road, a camera can be a bridge which helps us connect to people and places. We’ll explore approaches to overcome obstacles and build the rapport that’s essential to compelling people photography at home and beyond, along with ideas for turning your images into gifts people will treasure.

Photography for good can be profoundly rewarding, and we’ll explore opportunities to enrich our lives in this meaningful way. Lisa demystifies how to find and approach non-profits working on causes you care about, and shares tips for creating images that help tell their stories.

This keynote is about hope and possibility. Join Lisa to discover how intentional shifts in your photography can lead to greater joy, growth, and connection.
